When we needed a cab, the front desk called, and we had one within minutes. The staff was uniformly friendly and helpful with suggestions for other activities, restaurants, etc. Overall, this is a nice place in a really nice area. The neighborhood is considered to be an LGBT neighborhood, and there were many gay bars and a great gay bookstore nearby. The bus stop was only a couple of blocks away, and the regular city bus stops are also nearby. We had bought a citypass before coming to Philly, which included a day pass on a hop-on hop-off tour bus. The place was very clean and in a GREAT location – we walked most places. Rarely have I been at a hotel which made the visitor feel as much a part of a city. All of the housekeeping staff were friendly and happy to do whatever they could to make the guest’s stay as comfortable as possible. The hotel is located in a district known locally as the gayborhood, so if you’re looking for a gay friendly hotel the Alexander Inn is a great option. We also made use of the recommended reduced parking and found this very easy to use, plenty spaces and just round the corner from the hotel. There isn’t a bar or restaurant which may explain the lower ratings but there are plenty places nearby to eat or drink.
Unlike many hotels this one had a complimentary breakfast and also snacks available throughout the day. Easy walking distance to most center city sights, gay bars and restaurants.
Most amenities are available including a small gym, great breakfast room and exceptional staff. He Alexander Inn is a small (48 room hotel) located in the gay area of Center City.
